Our Group is situated in the village of Hatch End in the London Borough of Harrow which is at the edge of the Green Belt in the suburbs of North West London. We are a thriving and expanding group which was originally founded in October 1922, we have a Beaver Colony for young people between the ages of 6 and 8 years, a Cub Pack for those aged from 8 to 10 ½ years and a Scout Troop for those aged 10 ½ to 14 years old. We recently opened an Explorer Unit to cater for our older Scouts of 14. All of our sections are open to both boys and girls and to guide them we have a team of enthusiastic leaders, Young Leaders and numerous helpers. If you look at our news pages you will discover that we are one of the oldest Groups in the area, with a long tradition of commitment to the youth in our community – helping our youngsters strive to new heights, experience new challenges and most importantly of all, to have fun. Spend a few minutes looking at the full range of activities we cover with the young members, Scouting is all about meeting new people and making new friends and we welcome and encourage any parental involvement. If after all that you feel you would like to help in some way, or join us having fun then you can e-mail us from the contacts page.
Pack night is on Wednesdays and runs from 18:30 to 20:00. (Term Time Only)
Cubs is about meeting new people and making new friends, learning new skills, working with others and having a good time. With that in mind, we run an action packed programme to amuse and occupy you. Not only will it challenge you and be lots of fun – hopefully you will learn something new along the way.
Our programme is themed around seven different areas:
- Outdoor Scouting
- The world around you
- Beliefs and attitudes
- Caring and the community
What this means in reality is: camping, backwoods cooking, games, challenges, night hikes, abseiling, adventure courses, craft nights, science activities, canoeing, woodwork activities, cooking competitions, Day trips and visits, orienteering, charity events, family camps and social events and lots more.
There are many badges you can earn to sew on your uniform, some you will earn through the activities we do in the pack and some you can earn at home.
There is something for everybody at Cubs so come along and see for yourself.
