Harrow Change Makers: Local partners unite to support young people
This round is backed by Deo Duce Foundation, Harrow Council, Harrow School, John Lyon’s Charity and Orley Farm School, long-standing supporters of the borough’s youth sector. Their joint commitment focuses on partnership, shared learning to increase opportunities for young people in Harrow, particularly through initiatives led by local charities.
The findings emphasise five key themes:
- Mental health and resilience
- Physical activity and healthy routines
- Digital life and online safety
- Feeling safe in school and the community
- Planning for the future, including careers and transitions
It also identified specific groups of young people who may need extra support, including those with caring responsibilities, those living in temporary accommodation, asylum-seeking children, LGBTQ+young people and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Full findings will be presented on October 9th 2025, at the Harrow Children and Young People’s Support Conference.
Dan Burke, Chief Executive of Young Harrow Foundation, said: “Nearly 8,000 young people have told us about the realities of growing up in Harrow — what’s working, what’s missing, and where they need more support. This round of funding is one way the community is responding. Once again, local funders have come together with a shared commitment to back bold local ideas and invest in long-term impact.”
Applications are open to current Young Harrow Foundation member organisations delivering programmes for children and young people across the borough. Full criteria and guidance are available here
Over the last two years, Harrow Change Makers has raised over £200,000 annually to support local projects. We still hope to achieve the same this year, and are looking for partners who are able to financially contribute to make that a reality.
