New Children's Mental Health Online Hub Launched for Harrow UK Children’s Mental Health Week 7-13th February
A significant number of young people in Harrow would benefit from accessing mental health and emotional wellbeing support. Now a new website youngharrowfoundation.org/harrow-is-here has been launched to help them to do that.
65% of 6,000 young people surveyed in Harrow, said they “sometimes” or “often” feel depressed or anxious. These figures seem to peak when a young person is aged between 14-17 (Key Stage 4 & 5 at school) - with nearly 30% of them reporting they “often” feel nervous or anxious and nearly a fifth (24%) “often” feel depressed.
That is why, with Children’s Mental Health Week taking place on the 7th-13th of February, it is vital that young people in Harrow know where and how to access support.
Young Harrow Foundation and Harrow Council have joined together to provide an online hub for local young people to browse and access services from the public sector and local charities that may help them.
Young people who want to find mental health support services can go to the link below to find support specific for them, including mental health support for SEND, LGBT+, domestic abuse, being a young carer, suicidal thoughts and more. On the site, young people can access online resources, therapy sessions, support groups and more, depending on what they feel comfortable with.

Dan Burke, CEO of Young Harrow Foundation said: “We want all young people in Harrow to have the potential to have good mental health. There is so much support on offer locally, but often it’s a challenge to know where to find it.
Together with Harrow Council and our network of over 200 charities, we have curated these services into one place on our website, so it’s easy for young people to find and access the help they need.”
Paul Hewitt, Corporate Director of People Services at Harrow Council, said: “Young people deserve to be able to find, and easily access, services and support available to them for their mental health. We welcome this new online platform which will empower and enable young people to get help when they need it. We hope to see much more of this joined up working and collaboration for children’s services in our borough.”
The Young Harrow Foundation will be running a social media campaign throughout the week on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek and #HarrowIsHere. Follow online for daily highlights of different local organisations.
