The Breathe Support Group 2023-2024 Grant Programme

The Breathe Support Group, set up through the passion of a local parent with lived experience of supporting their child, supported by YHF, has been running monthly peer support sessions since 2017, using the premises and in-kind support of Christ Church Roxeth.

This group served to support parents and carers supporting young people struggling with a mental health issue, in particular, those on the CAMHS waiting list. We know from listening to parents, how incredibly worrying and exhausting it can be, anxiously waiting for professional support, while feeling powerless to help their child and concerned that they and their child or young person will reach a crisis point without additional help and support.

308 workshops and one-to-one sessions delivered and 217 parents/carers supported. This involved the original breathe Support Group, Christ Church Roxeth working more formally in partnership with HOPE and the Centre for ADHD and Autism (CAAS).

This project was designed to take the support group to the next level. It provided parents with practical tips and advice to navigate these difficult times and help promote positive and cooperative behaviour within their families.
