Greater London - Royal Victoria Hall Foundation

Objectives of Fund

The Foundation has two major aims:

  • To help professional productions in need of financial support.
  • To introduce high-quality live performance to groups who are not traditional or regular theatregoers.

Value Notes

Grants are normally in the range of £250 to £2,000. Between 20 and 30 grants are awarded each year.

Applicants must specify the precise amount being requested, and are advised that the Foundation receives more applications than it has available funds.

Who Can Apply

Theatre companies are eligible to apply.

The company does not have to be registered but it must have a bank account in its name and be able to provide its latest accounts for a full financial year, showing a detailed breakdown of income, expenditure and balance sheet in order to demonstrate financial viability. The accounts do not have to be professionally audited but need to be signed off by the head of the company and if possible inspected and signed off by a suitable independent person (ie accountant or bank manager).

Multiple applications from one organisation with different company names will not be accepted. Each company should have an independent management structure and artistic director.

Applicants should be able to confirm that they have a venue booked for their production.

All projects must take place within the Greater London area.

Eligible Expenditure

Funding is available for smaller-scale professional theatre projects based in London.

How To Apply

There are two funding rounds each year. The deadlines for applications are by 5:30 pm on the last working Friday in:

  • February for consideration at the April meeting for projects happening between May and October.
  • August for consideration at the October meeting for projects happening between November and April.

There is no formal application form.

Applications should be made in writing (both by email and by post) to the Foundation. Full details of what the application should include is provided on the Foundation's website.
