NYA Youth worker bursary fund
A major new Youth Worker Bursary Fund has been announced by NYA as part of a national initiative to open up career pathways in youth work. In its first year the fund will widen access and secure youth work training with up to 450 bursaries (Levels 2 & 3) working through the NYA’s regional partners.
The NYA is accepting expressions of interest now, ready for 2020 and 2021 courses.
NYA Chief Executive Leigh Middleton said:
“NYA is delighted to open a new fund for youth work training. Investing in people and growing the youth workforce is critical to rebuild youth services across the country. The bursaries will open the door to a new generation taking their first steps to become a qualified youth worker. This goes hand in glove with our national review of the curriculum and qualifications for professional youth workers and trained volunteers. It is a fitting legacy of this year’s Youth Work Week which has showcased just how inspirational and rewarding youth work can be, transforming young people’s lives.”
