HARROW WELLBEING FOR EDUCATION INITIATIVE

The national ‘Wellbeing for Education’ initiative (published as Wellbeing for Education Return) aims to build on and strengthen educational settings’ ability to support children’s wellbeing, and the wellbeing of adults in the school community, in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Harrow Educational Psychology Service (EPS) has worked in partnership with a range of local services including: Harrow Horizons, HeadsUp Harrow (including Mind in Harrow), Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners, Thrive London, Harrow Schools Counselling Partnership, and Early Support.

Harrow’s WFE webinars have aimed to provide: an overview of national DfE/MindEd materials available to schools; a focus on selected topics; more tailored content relating to local services; and an opportunity for discussion and information sharing between schools. These webinar recordings, though in a slightly different and less interactive format, are available for staff who were not able to attend, and/or for use in training and dissemination within settings. Schools who have attended sessions or viewed the webinars will receive follow up support from Harrow EPS to consider how best to take ideas forward in the context of your own setting.

SESSION 1 A focus on UNIVERSAL mental health and wellbeing provision in schools

This webinar focuses on whole school (& college) approaches around wellbeing and resilience in the context of Covid-19, including staff and parental wellbeing. It also signposts towards psychoeducational resources for use in developing children and young people’s understanding of their own mental health and wellbeing.

SESSION 2 A FOCUS ON TARGETED MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING PROVISION IN SCHOOLS

This webinar focuses more on those who may need additional support in the context of the pandemic. It focuses on specific vulnerabilities, and recognising warning signs. It considers support in relation to loss and bereavement, and anxiety and low mood. It also provides further information on Youth Mental Health First Aid training, and support from local services such as Harrow Horizons and HeadsUp Harrow.
