About Organisation

Our volunteers support primary school children in numeracy.

We currently partner with schools in 15 London boroughs - including Brent. We support the wide diversity of London children and we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities. The main requirement is a desire to help young children succeed in life.

Our trained volunteers use games and other creative activities in one-to-one sessions to make the sessions fun and engaging so that each child gains in confidence and is inspired to learn. As well as giving volunteers initial training we provide extensive online resources, and throughout the year the volunteers have access to one-to-one support from experienced teachers. Our volunteers use maths games and other creative activities to make the sessions fun and engaging so that each child gains in confidence and is inspired to learn.

Sessions are face to face in school, during school hours but outside the classroom, and a volunteer will work with each child for the full school year. Where the young people will improve their maths at this age can increase the child’s self-esteem and help them achieve their educational potential.

We can demonstrate strong evidence of positive impact. Evaluations by class teachers show strong evidence that the children we work with engage more in maths lessons and improve their skills.

We would love to hear from primary schools interested in partnering with us - contact school@numberchampions.org.uk
