We’re excited to announce that Mentee Applications for an Arts Emergency mentor are now open.
If you’re aged 16-18, based in London, Merseyside, or Greater Manchester and are curious about career in the creative or cultural industries but are not sure what steps to take to get you there, this could be a great opportunity!
As a mentee, you’ll be matched with a mentor who has knowledge about the career area you're interested in. For one year, they’ll be there to guide and inspire you, offering 1:1 support, tailored advice, and cheering you on to fulfil your goals. Alongside this you’ll also join the Arts Emergency Young Community and have the chance to connect with your peers and other creative professionals.
The 2026 mentoring programme runs from January 2026 - January 2027.
Applications close Monday 29 September 2025.
The mentoring programme is available to young people, aged 16-18 years old, living in London, Merseyside, or Greater Manchester, who are preparing to take their first steps out of compulsory education (e.g. college or sixth form) and thinking about a future in the creative or cultural industries.
We try to work with young people who most need the support of an Arts Emergency mentor, and therefore mentees should meet at least one of the criteria below:
- Your parents or carers didn’t attend university in the UK or abroad
- The main household earner when you were 14 had a ‘working class’ occupation (i.e. a technical or craft occupation; a routine, manual, or service occupation; or was long-term unemployed)
- You have been eligible for free school meals
- You are receiving the government's 16-19 bursary
- You consider yourself as being from an ethnic minority background
- You consider yourself to be disabled
- You consider yourself to have a learning disability or special education need
If this sounds like a brilliant opportunity, then you need to apply before 29 September 2025. You must also be able to commit to meeting your mentor for an hour once a month between January 2026 and January 2027.
