What

Community Focus is a Barnet based arts centre for people of all ages with autism, special educational needs, and mental health challenges, focusing on creative and culturally enriching activities. As a Short Breaks provider we work with young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities aged 10-18 during the school holidays. We offer a staff to young people ratio of 1:3, sensory materials and specially planned workshops, and an aim on enriching, educating, and empowering our young people.

We're looking ahead to October Half Term and excited to announce our Short Breaks projects. This half term we're looking at games, from video games to board games, designing, creating, and most importantly, playing them! We have 3 days of activities planned, each day costing £55 from your Short Breaks budget or alternative funding;

Tuesday 28th October 10:30-3:00

Day Trip to the Science Museum

  • Drop off and collection at Community Focus
  • Visiting the Science Museum, including the special exhibit Power Up which features video games from the past 50 years!

Wednesday 29th - 30th October 10:30-3:00

Board Game Design

  • Through a combination of photography, design, and art, we will create our own unique and original board games.
  • Come up with your own exciting story and concept, and let this come to life in your own board game
  • Create fun tasks and challenges to make your game even more interesting!

All days are supported by a ratio of 1 staff member to 3 young people, trained in safeguarding, first aid, and SEND / Autism awareness, and aim to enrich, educate, and empower your young people in a safe, welcoming space.
If you want to book on to any of our days, or have any further questions, please email me at ben@communityfocus.co.uk
