This event is suitable for voluntary, community sector, school staff, early years professionals, carers, foster carers, children’s social care and voluntary and community sector. This session will families understand key areas of supporting individual who may be affected by domestic abuse. The sign indictors and where to sign post for help, support and to resources.

Making Every Contact Count-MECC is a national initiative designed to encourage public-facing workers to consider every contact they have as an opportunity to promote health and wellbeing, using simple health behaviour change models. This session will focus on wellbeing for those who may be suffering from domestic abuse we will look at how to use MECC in day-to-day interactions with people you come into contact with. The training will be split into two parts.

Part One. To explore the Making Every Contact Count (MECC) approach and our role in improving the health of those around us.By the end of this session, you will:

  • Know what MECC is
  • Know why MECC may help improve the health of a population
  • Have explored how you may be able to MECC
  • Have briefly explored some models of behaviour change
  • Have access to resources that will help you MECC
  • Have had a chance to ask questions

Part Two. We will look at domestic abuse the impact on victims and children/young people.

  • Share local data to raise awareness
  • provide resources and tools to help practitioners
  • helplines and contact numbers
