What
Drama & Performance Skills for Key Stage 3 (Scenes from the Movies)
This project enables KS3 pupils to explore acting and drama using scenes and monologues from the movies. It encourages young people to see themselves not just as actors and directors, but as storytellers, creators and collaborators in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
What it involves
Working with a Creative Futures practitioner, pupils explore character, motivation, tone and delivery through film extracts and monologues. Film scripts are often more immediate and familiar to young people than classic play texts, giving them an accessible route into dramatic technique — building confidence before applying the same skills to more traditional texts.

Accessible and inclusive by design
Working from a scene rather than a blank page gives pupils a clear structure, making performance more manageable for neurodivergent pupils and others who find open-ended tasks harder to access.
