What
EPIC in partnership with Harrow College will deliver a specialised 6 week programme that will be shaped by the ESOL students focusing on two priorities: Mental Health and Physical Health where the students will be able to choose which areas of mental health they want to focus on in each project.
12 selected ESOL students will be part of the following range of activities:
- Breakdance. Young people (YP) will be able to choose body movement, interactive breakdance games or set routines in order to help them develop physical health, body confidence and mental wellbeing.
- Graffiti. YP will be able to choose a particular focus on a theme such as their culture, language, or the psychological impact of colours to shape the end result, for instance, as a college mural or a collage art exhibition.
- College Jam Celebration Day. YP will shape the culmination of the activities/workshops and how they will showcase their new skills while enjoying the day, with performances etc.
- Workshops. Building a strong tool kit for students to increase self awareness and deal with adversity, anxiety and develop coping mechanisms.
- Men’s mental health sessions embedding changing adverse male stereotypes and support to face trauma through user led group conversations.
All project areas are open to any gender type but participants will be wighted more towards men due to the 'Men's mental health sessions' aspect of the project.
Harrow Change Makers
After catching up with over 7,000 children and young people, we created a report on their thoughts and worries about growing up in Harrow. We started the Harrow Change Makers Grant Programme where amazing organisations in Harrow that support children and young people offer FREE activities tailor-made for them!
