In response to demand and after an extremely successful school tour and theatre run in 2024, Synergy Theatre Project are reviving their show Providers in Autumn 2026. Written by Ambreen Razia, Providers explores the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on young people and addresses how financial pressures can affect their family, relationships and daily lives and pull them into criminality- sparking discussion about money, vulnerability, and resilience.
Synergy will tour the show for one week exclusively to schools in Harrow, offering one-off workshops to further explore the themes of the play and encourage creative engagement. We will also run 4 longer-term projects in Harrow schools or PRUs, which will offer up to 15 young people the opportunity to work with a Synergy team for 8 weeks on a creative response project exploring issues raised in the play. Together, the groups will learn new creative skills, engage in discussions, and create a performance that will be shown to peers and teachers in the final week.
These projects will be delivered by professional creative practitioners, supported by Synergy's ex-prisoner facilitators. Using the play as a starting point, the projects will explore its themes and respond to the interests and ideas of the young people. Participants will be signposted to further creative engagement opportunities through Synergy’s Young Studio, which offers courses and referrals to placements and employment in the creative industries and beyond.
