What
Health information can be confusing and when people don't understand it, their health suffers.
In the UK, 43% of adults struggle to understand written health information, and that number jumps to 61% when it includes numbers.
The way you explain something makes all the difference to whether someone understands it and acts on it.
In this session, we'll explore practical, everyday ways to make health information clearer and easier to understand. We'll look at how we can do this without jargon, without overwhelming detail, and without assuming too much.
What You'll Learn:
How low health literacy drives health inequalities
The ways poor health literacy can affect people
The barriers that stop patients from understanding information
Clear communication techniques that support patient decisions
Strategies to boost comprehension of health information
How better information sharing empowers patients
This session includes real case studies, a chance to review your own materials, and hands-on exercises to practise techniques in a safe environment
