What
Our two-day Healthy Friendships project is suitable for one class of pupils from Year 5 or 6, and concludes by creating a performance or presentation to share key learnings with their peers.
What we will achieve
- Identifying what makes a friendship healthy or unhealthy
- Identifying safe and unsafe touch through the NSPCC Underwear Rule
- Recognising children’s rights as developing human beings
- Exploring how pressure and control might be used in friendships
- Learning how to support a friend, and how to seek support if they feel unsafe.
How we do it
Drama and the arts have long been recognised as powerful tools for engaging young people in social issues. During our Healthy Friendships projects, children meet and create characters, play with scripts, and share and listen to ideas. This helps them to rehearse friendships, learn from mistakes and discover boundaries in a supported and creative way.
