What
Conflict between a young person and their parents, teachers and peers is often a normal part of growing up. When that behaviour crosses the line into abuse or aggression, it can be difficult to manage. The Impressionable Minds RESPECT programme is available to young people aged 11-16 where their behaviours are violent or aggressive towards others.
The RESPECT programme aims to address behaviours that can increase risks in later life, such as:
- Low empathy
- High entitlement
- Poor school attendance or academic achievement
- Difficulty with emotional regulation
- Problems with conflict resolution
The RESPECT programme seeks to improve:
- Emotional well-being (coping with anxiety, anger, emotional self-regulation)
- Family communication and relationships with teachers/peers
- The young person’s insight to their own behaviour leading to a reduction in verbal and physical aggression.
The programme is delivered in a small group setting (max 12 young people). RESPECT is a fixed programme of 4 x 1hour sessions led by an experienced facilitator. Within the sessions, students have the opportunity to learn new skills and concepts within a supportive environment.
- Session 1: Introduction to RESPECT
- Session 2: Positive Behaviours
- Session 3: Anti-Violence
- Session 4: Self-Regulation
