Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) is recommended by NICE guidelines as the first-line intervention for Children and Young People with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The training will cover:
- How children and families react to traumatic events,
- Risk factors for PTSD in children and young people
- The cognitive model of PTSD in children and young people
- TF-CBT for children and young people, including engagement, implementing this intervention, common barriers, and adaptations for multiple traumatic events
- The evidence base for TF-CBT
The workshop will use a variety of training methods including interactive presentation of theory with case illustrations (with clients’ consent), small group discussion and opportunities to practice skills.
