Understanding Autism Spectrum Condition
About Project
Autism spectrum condition (ASC) is not an illness and is not technically a mental health disorder; it is a neurodevelopmental condition. As 70% of children with ASC develop at least one co-occurring mental health issue, and 40% of these will develop more than one, early recognition is key.
This short film focuses on children who may be very able and whose condition may not be readily apparent, especially girls, as they are particularly good at ‘masking’ symptoms. It includes advice and explanations from Dr Miriam Bindman of Great Ormond Street Hospital, Dr Lisa Honeyman, Principal Clinical Psychologist and Dr Ken Greaves, Educational Psychologist.
This is one of our information films but we've also included other films about Autism spectrum conditions and real-life experience films here on the Young Foundation platform.
