Supporting the Arts in Harrow 2023 Report Round 1
Our vision through this programme was to involve all communities in arts and culture and to give those children and young people who are not engaging in the arts the voice and power to help shape local arts provision.
In November 2022, the Young Harrow Foundation (YHF) secured £40,000 for two years from John Lyon's Charity to fund arts opportunities in Harrow schools. We involved members and community groups in co-commissioning projects that celebrated the borough's diverse culture and heritage in Harrow. Their goal was to support high-quality arts provision, emphasizing collaboration, inclusivity, and excellence in artistic endeavours.
4,588 children and young people were supported through the programme.
The overall aims were to increase engagement in the arts across both schools and communities in the borough including:
- Engaging those children and young people who are least involved in the arts across Harrow.
- Giving those not engaging in the arts the voice and power to help shape local arts provision.
- Celebrating Harrow’s diverse culture & heritage through supporting arts-based provision.
- Developing locally-led networks for arts organisations in partnership with the Harrow Culture Forum.
