St. Alban's North Harrow
About Organisation
St Alban's Church North Harrow is a faith-based charity that aims to support the local community (particularly those in the North Harrow & Rayner's Lane areas) through a wide variety of community-facing clubs, spaces and services.
In addition to hosting external youth & children's organisations (School visits, Guides, Brownies, Scouts, Beavers & Cubs), and extending our facilities to many community & special interest groups, we have a developing youth programme [SAYS] that seeks to engage and support children and young people from all (faith and non-faith) backgrounds, encouraging them to live life to the full, and empowering them with the tools to face challenges, overcome difficulties, and make positive lifestyle choices.
St Alban's Youth Services [SAYS] include:
- On Mondays, we host a choir club for children in Years 3 to 8 (ages 7 to 13) during term time. Held in the Jubilee Room from 3:30–5:00pm, children are welcomed with snacks before diving into an hour of singing from 4:00–5:00pm.
- On Wednesdays, we also run an after-school club for the same age group, providing a midweek space for fun, friendship, and informal learning.
- On Sunday our Junior Church takes place during term time (excluding the 2nd Sunday of each month for our all-age service) and runs for about 20 minutes during the sermon and prayers. Held in the Lady Chapel, it’s a safe and reflective environment where children can explore faith, ask questions, and engage in creative activities, including colouring for younger ones.
- In local schools, we deliver a 5-week support programme (in partnership with Restored Lives) for children navigating parental separation, currently offered twice a year at Nower Hill High School.
- Families can also join our Messy Church sessions—held four times a year. These creative gatherings include themed arts and crafts, a short children’s talk in church, and some delicious snacks to close the day.
Looking for volunteers:
We are actively seeking volunteers to support our Schools Work programmes. Opportunities include mentoring, coaching, counselling, peacebuilding, leadership development, and adventure-based activities.
We also welcome volunteers for our wider Community Outreach work, including detached and outreach youth work, door-knocking initiatives, and community consultations. If you're passionate about making a difference locally, we'd love to hear from you.
