About Project

Launched in 2016, Future Gardeners is an innovative training and work experience scheme, giving participants the core skills to gain entry-level jobs in the horticulture industry without having any previous experience or specialist education.

Open to all who want to try out a career in gardening, Future Gardener is an educational scheme that doesn’t require entrants to have minimum educational qualifications. As well as pre-apprenticeship training and a City & Guilds qualification, the budding horticulturists will have their career options enhanced by being introduced to key employers in the sector, including some of London’s finest parks and gardens.

The Future Gardeners course runs three times a year starting in January, April/May, and September.

The course is completely free and runs for 14 weeks - this is part-time at two days a week and a two-week full-time work placement. Sessions are based at Living Space (near Waterloo) and Walworth Garden (https://walworthgarden.org.uk/) (near Kennington). The course includes studying for a Level 2 City and Guilds horticultural qualification plus visits and work days to other locations across London.

Applications are now open for the next course, starting on Thursday 12th January. Please fill out the form below and we will be in touch with you about the next steps in the application process. If you are unable to fill out the form or have any questions please email louisa@bost.org.uk.
