About Project

Spear is a year-long, award-winning programme that equips 16-to-24-year-olds not in education, employment or training (NEET) from disadvantaged backgrounds to find long-term employment. We equip young people with confidence, motivation and the vital skills they need to succeed in long-term employment.

In its current online delivery, the Spear Programme is crafted to address some of the specific challenges of the Covid19 employment climate. It is delivered remotely, meaning it provides immediate and accessible support.

Over 6 weeks of online coaching both in groups and 1-1, Spear coaches focus on developing a work ready mindset, as well as equipping them with work ready skills such as how to write a CV, present confidently, write applications and practice interviewing, in order to become work ready, and then secure employment.

We continue to support each young person for 12 months afterwards to help them enter into employment and progress up the career ladder.

We have a strong track record of achieving significant results – 75% those who complete Spear return to education or go on to work, and are still there a year later!

I'd definitely recommend this programme to other young people! Doing Spear (online) at the start of my gap year really helped me in terms of my mindset and approach and also practical things like improving my CV and interview technique. The best part is definitely the supportive community you form with other young people and I really enjoy going to our weekly catch up sessions! (Spear Career)
