Harrow Youth Stop (Prospects)
About Organisation
Harrow Youth Stop provides free expert guidance for young people aged 16–19 (or up to 24 with an EHC plan). They offer one-on-one support to help with understanding your options, applying for courses, jobs, or apprenticeships, writing CVs and preparing for interviews and planning next steps for education or work. The team is available for drop-in sessions or appointments Monday to Friday, 9 am–5 pm, at The Twenty One Building in Harrow.
After Year 11, you must stay in education or training until you’re 18. Your choices include:
-
Full-time study at school, sixth form, or college—options like A-levels, T-levels, vocational or technical qualifications, or retakes.
-
Work–study pathways, such as apprenticeships, traineeships, or supported internships, which combine working and learning.
-
If you have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan, there may be tailored options available.
-
Resources like the National Careers Service and local careers guides can help you explore these choices.
At 18, you have more choices depending on your goals:
-
Continue studying with university degrees, diplomas, or further college courses.
-
Mix work and learning by starting apprenticeships, traineeships, or school-leaver schemes.
-
Start working directly in a job, internship, or even by setting up your own business.
-
Take a gap year to work, gain experience, volunteer, or travel before committing to further education or work.
-
Those with an EHC plan may have additional, personalised options.
-
National resources like the National Careers Service, UCAS, student finance advice, and guides to apprenticeships can support your planning.
