What

The 18-week Music Recording and Songwriting workshop aims to build confidence, cultivate career skills, and foster positive networks of young people in Harrow, especially those facing challenges related to antisocial behaviour and involvement in crime.

Key needs and benefits:

  1. Confidence Building: Through the creative process of music recording and songwriting, participants will gain confidence in their abilities and talents, discovering their unique voices and strengths.
  2. Career Skill Development: The workshop offers valuable training in music production, songwriting, and recording, equipping participants with practical skills that are applicable in the music industry and beyond.
  3. Discipline and Timekeeping: Participants will learn the importance of discipline, time management, and following instructions through the structured nature of the workshop.
  4. Positive Networks: By engaging with peers and mentors in a supportive and collaborative environment, participants will build positive relationships and networks that foster personal growth and resilience.
  5. Crime Reduction: The workshop serves as a positive alternative to antisocial behaviour, crime, and drug use. Participants are empowered to channel their energy into productive pursuits, reducing the likelihood of involvement in harmful activities.
  6. Community Impact: The workshop specifically targets young people from Global Majority communities who are at risk of antisocial behaviour or involvement in crime.

Through this comprehensive and engaging workshop, young people in Harrow have the opportunity to unlock their potential, pursue their passions, and chart a course towards a brighter future by investing in their talents and aspirations.

Support the Arts Funding Programme

The vision of this programme is to involve all communities in arts and culture and to give those children and young people who are not engaging in performing arts the voice and power to help shape local arts provision. This programme is possible with the funding support of John Lyon's charity, Harrow School, the Voluntary Action Harrow (VAH) networks and the Harrow Culture Forum.
