What
This 12-month project aims to support individual and small group of neurodivergent (ADHD/autistic) young people aged 14-24 at risk of mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and self-harm. The Centre for ADHD and Autism support offers young people individual support, strategy-based courses, and a range of social groups that build resilience by facilitating social experiences, decreasing anxiety and isolation.
Our centre aims to provide a calm and non-judgemental space for young people to explore and process their diagnosis in a structured and predictable way that reduces anxiety.
Film Groups
We offer two film groups, one for ages 14-18 and one for ages 19-24 with a clear structure (meal, conversation, film). The young people will select a film on a rotating individual basis and we watch it together, discussion key themes that arise. During the year, the group will go on an outing, which might be to the cinema or some other film-related activity, such as the Harry Potter Studios. This allows young people to learn additional skills needed within the community, such as waiting, ordering and paying for food and travelling.
