School Drop-in Mentoring
About Project
Mentoring delivered by an LGBT+ mentor can help a young person to establish a positive relationship and discuss any issues they may face in positive, affirming and kind environment. This service can be delivered in person, or virtually.
How does it work?
Our on-site and community sessions are an opportunity for young persons to have honest conversations about what is happening in their lives.Topics may range from identity to relationships, as well as family issues. Community sessions see our mentors visit a young person in their school or at another organisation. This confidential service does not require parental consent based on the Fraser Guidelines, but as safeguarding the wellbeing of young persons is a top priority we act on any concerns raised by them. The young persons and mentor decide the frequency of meetings.
We work with individual schools in the way that is best suited to their situation - they may require a regular monthly drop in service, or they may seek mentoring for a specific student.
