What
WHAT?
The Stork Project offers refugee families from Ukraine and Afghanistan weekly arts sessions to support the mental health and wellbeing of families who have had to leave their home country. Sessions are led by professional arts practitioners and supported by staff who are able to speak Ukrainian and Farsi as well as an arts therapist.
The project culminates with an annual show based on the stories shared by the communities throughout the year. Participants are invited to be part of this in whatever capacity they would like. Some perform, others help write the show while others are simply observers.
Project Aims:
- Participants will have an improved sense of wellbeing and feel more confident in themselves.
- Participants will have increased connection with peers and will be better able to connect with people outside of their community.
- Participants will have an improved sense of resilience in coping with the trauma of leaving a war torn/politically unstable country and living in a new place - both personally and within their family environment.
