Young Harrow Foundation

The aim of the Young Harrow Foundation (YHF) is to create a thriving sector of effective, resilient, and ‘fit for purpose’ CSOs delivering improved outcomes for children and young people (CYP) in Harrow. YHF works with member CSOs, statutory bodies funders, local businesses, schools, and communities to tackle the challenges facing children and young people and establish more effective ways of delivering activities that meet their needs.

YHF aims to:

1. Increase access to funding for improving outcomes for C&YP, including organizational funding and core costs for CSOs
2. Develop new strategic cross-sector partnerships and innovative ways of working to meet the needs of C&YP.
3. Support a stronger and more resilient membership that evidences best practices in governance, financial management, operational delivery, and safeguarding.

Our key activities are:

• Increasing access to funding
• 1:1 member bid writing and fundraising support
• Developing the skills and capacity of CSOs to fundraise more effectively for themselves
• Making small grants to CSOs to support ‘hard to fund’ expenditure items (core costs, pilots)
• Developing strategic partnerships
• Bringing together members, funders, local providers, the Council, and other stakeholders to research and raise awareness of the needs of C&YP in Harrow
• Provide leadership when working with Harrow Council and other statutory bodies
• Creating new cross-sector partnership models to achieve stronger outcomes for CYP across the five key areas of need in Harrow
• Developing the resources of member CSOs
• Supporting members to develop effective organizational practices (quality mark accreditations, improving financial, governance and performance management)
• Develop the skills and capacity of CSOs to create and sustain partnerships with other organizations
• Promote effective sharing of resources ex. shared ‘venue bank’ for members.
