What
Rolladome is a Black female-led charity believing in empowering the youth to achieve children and young people full potential and create positive change in their lives and communities. Through this programme, young people aged 9-16 will embark on a transformative journey of skill-building, personal growth, and fun-filled experiences.
The programme
- Discovering Roller Sports: Participants will be introduced to the thrilling world of roller sports, including roller skating and rollerblading. They will learn about the equipment and safety gear, gaining a solid foundation to kickstart their roller sports adventure.
- Building Confidence on Skates: With the support of our qualified and enthusiastic sessional coaches, participants will develop essential skating skills, like balance, gliding, turning, and stopping. As they master these skills, their confidence on skates will soar.
- Advancing Through Skating Grades: As the programme progresses, participants will move on to skating grades 1, 2, 3, and 4, mastering more challenging manoeuvres and freestyle moves, such as spins, jumps, slides, and creative skating expressions.
- Exploring Team Sports: Our participants will engage in roller hockey and other teambased roller sports games, learning teamwork, communication, and camaraderie. The joy of playing together will strengthen their sense of belonging and social connections.
- Unleashing Creativity: We encourage self-expression and creativity through roller dance and partner skating. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their unique style and creativity on wheels.
- Becoming Young Leaders: A group of 10 participants will undergo RollaDome coach training. As young leaders, they will mentor and guide their peers, fostering a culture of positive action and empowerment.
